[Question] Can a Surveillance HDD be used as a normal HDD in laptops/desktops for everyday use?

Hello members,

In the event that I want to buy a new hard drive, should I also consider surveillance drives as an option?

What is the difference between surveillance drives and normal drives from the perspective of a casual desktop user?

Surveillance drives are optimized for continuous, long term operations and have lower speeds/performance than a standard HDD.

You can use them, but you’ll just get a little bit worse performance than a standard 7200rpm drive. 5900rpm is a little better than 5400rpm, though.
