[Question] Does a M.2 SSD need a heatsink?

Hello members,

I just got a Samsung 970 evo 1TB Nvme M.2 SSD. Does it need a heatsink? Or is it good without one?
Thx.

If it requires a heatsink, they would have included one (which they technically did).

The sticker on the drive itself is made of copper and provides sufficient cooling. Also, you don’t need to cool a NVME drive, they are designed to run hot. Only the controller needs to be cooled. Running a NVME drive too cool is bad for it, as it will start pulling more voltage than necessary.
